Serving Families Since 2009

Kids First began serving families in 2009, with our main office located in South Fort Worth. From the beginning, we’ve been committed to helping children and youth in need of safe, loving foster, adoptive, and kinship homes right here in Tarrant County and surrounding areas.

Why Fort Worth Matters

This region continues to see high numbers of children removed from homes due to abuse or neglect. Whenever possible, children are placed within a 50-mile radius of their removal location to keep them near their court jurisdiction, schools, and supportive friends or family. Fort Worth plays a vital role in keeping children connected to what’s familiar — while they begin their healing journey.

Unique to Fort Worth: A Statewide Model

Our Fort Worth office operates in the region of the first successful Community-Based Care SSCC (Single Source Continuum Contractor) in Texas — a model that brings local decision-making and stronger collaboration between agencies and CPS. This allows for more personalized care and faster support for foster families.

Convenient Location

You’ll find our office just off Interstate 20, providing easy access from all directions of the DFW Metroplex — whether you’re coming from the north, south, east, or west. Our Fort Worth location is the hub of our operations, serving as both a resource and a home base for foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

We welcomed our first child within weeks, and even now, Kids First continues to support us. Their honesty and guidance from the start made all the difference. If you’re looking for an agency that truly cares, I highly recommend Kids First. - Michael

  • When I considered becoming a foster parent, I wanted to provide a home where kids could feel safe and loved. But I had a lot of questions. How much work would it take? Could I be successful? Could I handle unpredictable situations? Kids First is extremely helpful and very skilled at communicating exactly what foster parents need. I can call them day or night, and someone answers the phone to support me. There’s a genuine sense of community with other foster parents, and I never feel alone in this incredibly rewarding journey. - Diane

  • The process of foster parenting is challenging and, at the same time, immensely rewarding. Carla and the team at Kids First have made sure I know what to expect at every phase. They prioritize relationships and provide a human touch so we can be the best advocates possible for the kids. I’ve encouraged many friends and co-workers to start the training process and become involved with Kids First. - Annette
