Kids First is a licensed contract provider with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS). Kids First searches for children who are legally free for adoption. These children have been neglected or abused and are unable to return home to their biological families.
Some of the Basic Requirements of becoming a Adoptive Parent are:
- Responsible Healthy Adult (21 years old)
- Stable Income
- Reliable Transportation
- Married or Single, not separated
- Home Study Cleared
- Child Abuse, Criminal Clearances
- FBI Check Clearance
- 33 Hours of Training – Provided by Kids First
- If Divorced, must be Divorced for 6 months
- Cleared Fire and Health Home Inspection
The Steps to Becoming an Adoptive Family are:
- Kids First recommends being licensed as a Foster-to-Adopt Family
- Attend an Orientation
- Complete an Application
- Pass a Central Registry and Criminal Background Check
- Pass a FBI Check
- Compete 33 Hours of Training offered by Kids First
- Pass a Fire and Health Home Inspection
- Provide various documents for your file
- Pass a Home Study
